Buildings Filmed Between Houston And Burns Lake British Columbia (Pictures)

Above Photo: I don’t believe the buildings are very old, but they looked really interesting and made for a nice picture.

We always try to keep a lookout for something nice to film. On one of our recent drives out to Burns Lake, British Columbia we spotted some buildings in an open field.

They looked interesting so I stopped the car and walked into the field and took a number of pictures.

The Bulkley River Around Houston British Columbia (9 Pictures/ 2 Video Clips)

Above Photo: Beaver dam down stream on the The Bulkley River.

As many might notice, the Bulkley River is one of my favorite places in and around Houston, British Columbia to be. No matter what part of the Bulkley river I visit, the beauty is breath taking.

So today, on October 30, 2015 my wife and I made another visit to the Bulkley river as the beavers are damming up the river in a couple of different spots, and I was hoping we might get some pictures of the fury little critter, but today we certainly heard the beaver splashing around up river, but never seem it.

Telkwa British Columbia.

In Telkwa British Columbia you will find a beautiful 1910 old church which sits right along sidfe Highway 16. It seems the Telkwa Museum Society looks after the church and will rent it out for special occasions.

You can visit the Telkwa website for details if you wish to rent the old church.

Telkwa British Columbia

Above Photo: Road sign welcoming travelers to Telkwa, British Columbia.

A few days ago we drove out to Telkwa from our home in Houston, British Columbia. It was such a beautiful day we decided to head out.

This time I wanted to get some pictures from around the two bridges that are really close together. One of the bridges is for the CN Railway, and the other for vehicle traffic. The Telkwa River runs under the Railroad bridge, and the river flowing under the vehicle bridge is the Bulkley River.

To view the bridge photos, and a short video clip, please visit Brian Vike's Travel Blog at:

Smithers British Columbia Visitor Centre (Photos)

Above Photo: Lonely Cougar looks back toward his home in the mountains from the Smithers, British Columbia Visitor Centre.

We were out in Smithers, B.C. a few days ago and I wandered around taking pictures of a lot of things as the weather was beautiful. One of the places I thought I would start with was the Chamber of Commerce/ Visitor Centre.

There was a display of a Cougar outside the building which I thought was pretty cool. the Cougar looks like it is missing the high mountains as it looks staring off into the distant mountains.

I have a few pictures from around the Smithers, B.C. Visitor Centre and just outside of
Smithers as well.

Rose Lake British Columbia (6 - Pictures)

Above Photo: Rose Lake, British Columbia.

On our way out to Burns Lake the other day my wife and I stopped at the Rose Lake camping site which is on the shore of Rose Lake and  along Highway 16.

The people in the community of Rose Lake have come together providing a nice camp site. There are grassy spots to erect a tent on, there are pit toilets, picnic tables and a great covered area should the weather turn bad.

Telkwa British Columbia Museum

Above Photo: Sign for the Museum In Telkwa, British Columbia.

On my many travels around northern British Columbia, I have passed the Telkwa Museum most likely a few hundred times and have never stopped in to see what the museum has for Telkwa's history.

Finally when I did stop by this past September, the museum was of course closed for the year. Although I wasn't able to view the artifacts which are inside, there still was some interesting items outside on display.

I have posted a few pictures below that can be viewed outside along Highway 16. There also is another area on the grounds which is fenced off, behind the fence you can see a number of really cool machines from the past.

To view the pictures and read a little more on the Museum, please visit the below link.

Totem Pole Sits In The Steelhead Park Houston British Columbia

Above Photo: Totem Pole located in the Steelhead Park Houston, British Columbia.

My wife and I took the dog over to the Steelhead Park in Houston, British Columbia today, as it was a beautiful day.

The park's flowers have pretty much died off, but there still is a large number of travelers pulling into the park to take pictures of Canada's largest fly rod and reel.

To view other photos of the Totem Pole, please visit the following link.

1914 St. John The Divine Anglican Church Quick British Columbia (Photo)

Above Photo: 1914 St. John The Divine Anglican Church in Quick British Columbia.

On our travels around northern British Columbia we stopped at the St. John The Divine Anglican Church located in Quick British Columbia.

The church was built in 1914 and stands today in fantastic condition. It sits on a nicely cut lawn, with colorful Fall bushes around it.

Inside the church there is a old stove that would keep people warm in the winter months when attending church. There is also oil lamps that were used inside for the lighting.

Anyone one passing through Quick, B.C. is welcome to drop by as the doors remain open.

If you were driving west from Prince George, B.C. and you will be passing through Quick, keep your eyes open for the Quick Road West as you would make a left hand turn off of Highway 16 and onto Quick Road West. From there, it sits on the left hand side of the the road and not many yards off the Highway, actually if you look closely, you can see it from Highway 16.

Location for the church can be found on Google maps, link is below.

Old Historic Hazelton British Columbia (Pictures)

Hazelton is one of the oldest settlements in Northern British Columbia, its European settlement dates back to 1866 when the Collins Overland telegraph went through.

Hazelton was the original gateway and staging area for the Omineca Gold Rush of 1869-73. Besides the hunt for riches, there was one other important reason to visit: it had the only proper hospital for hundreds of miles in any direction.

One of its other, less appreciated, distinctions was in having dozens of roaming, foraging and howling sled dogs, as nearly everyone had their own team and many were allowed to run free.

To read more and look at the pictures, please visit:

The Ksan Historical Village Near Hazelton British Columbia (24 Pictures)

Above Photo: Sign welcoming you to the Ksan Historical Village
near Hazelton British Columbia.

The Ksan Historical Village and Museum is located at the confluence of the Skeena and Bulkley Rivers where near Hazelton, British Columbia. Ksan was founded before Hazelton was in 1866, and was populated by the Gitxsan aboriginal people.

The village has been replicated to show what the community of the Gitxsan aboriginal people looked like from years ago. Not only is it an amazing place to visit, it is a very import part of British Columbia's history.

Before arriving in the Ksan Village, you have to cross over the Hagwilget Canyon Bridge.

I have a number of photos that I took at the Ksan Village and information on the area. I will also be making another posting on Ksan a little later and will post the remaining 16 photos.
