Hi, I just saw your article at "http://unitedstatesufo.blogspot.com/2013/01/orange-light-falling-from-sky-over-san.html" and read where you wanted to hear from people that may have seen similar sightings in the area.
Last night ( 1-17-13) I was looking up at the sky and to the south/west area (I am located in Escondido) about 3/4 of the way up and guessing about the size of a quarter, at arms length was a bright orange ball like "thing".
Almost looking as though it was a brighter orange in the middle with a slightly darker orange rim to it. Traveling slowly, going a little to left then to right then poof disappeared completely.
The sky was absolutely clear last night. Only other things I could see were the stars and a probable satellite to the west and a helicopter with its blinking red light.
My friend saw it when I first pointed out to him but left in his vehicle so never saw how it just disappeared. All my friends of course think I’m nuts.
