Orange Colored Lights/Objects Seen Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Date:  March 22, 2015
Time:  8:00 p.m.

I just (8:00 p.m.) saw 4 similar lights heading north west from what appeared above down town Nanaimo.

One first, then 2 together and then one solo again. They were orange, not red and seemed to be identical.

I have had many years of aviation involvement and am familiar with glide paths angles of attack, drift et al.

A few years ago I did see something similar, which was even more weird!

I also have seen Chinese lanterns, and these they were not.

 Any Ideas ?

Bright Orange Fiery Ball Of Light Observed Over Nanaimo British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I just came out of the house at about 11:00 p.m. and I noticed a very obvious orange ball shape, like a ball of fire moving across the sky.

It appeared like a ball of fire floating across the sky in that there wasn't a distinct form or outline to it. That is partly what caught my attention.

It was going at about the speed of a plane so I just watched it and it continued at the same speed for a few seconds and then slowed to a stop.

I continued to watch it as it was motionless, it appeared in distance to be just over Departure Bay (in Nanaimo, B.C.) and I was standing about 6 blocks away from the bay.

Once motionless it went from the fairly large ball of fire shape, slowly, maybe taking 5-10 seconds, to a tiny orange dot that appeared (for a few more seconds) like a star in the night sky. Then it was gone, just like that.

I wondered what the significance of this was, as I have never seen something like it before, so I decided to Google bright orange light in the sky over Nanaimo and this website came up.

So I wanted to share my experience. As a result of this experience I am going to take a look at some other posts about orange lights in the sky.

Bright Orange Balls Of Light Seen In The Sky Over North Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Hi there, last night, New Years I was on the deck at approximately 12:30 a.m. when I saw what at first was a fireworks in the sky, it was a bright orange ball. While waiting for it to explode, it turned slowly and disappeared into a cloud.

As I watched, and called my 15 year old son to come see what I was seeing. I saw another 5, 6 in total move from over the tree line at Pioneer Park, make a large circle then disappear into the clouds.

They were all evenly spaced, no noise, and like I said all followed the same path. You seem to be the expert in the area, have you had any other reports of these lights?

Two Women Have A UFO Close Encounter Between Nanaimo And Campbell River British Columbia

Hello, my name is (name removed). My experience happened in September 2009 but I just found you now.

My friend and I were driving home from Nanaimo to Campbell River, we were on the highway at about 9:30 p.m. about 20 minutes away from Hamm Rd.

The skies were super clear and crisp. We were chatting, had the music on, etc.

Throughout the drive we both noticed 2 little lights way in the distance, kind of hovering around, but very far away. We both didn't think much of it and carried on chatting.

Out of know where, about 20 feet above her car was 2 huge bright lights (bluish white) with orange glowing on the sides.

Below the light were 2 metal looking structures hanging down like 2 arms.

We drew a picture when we got home, but it is kind of hard to explain, my first thought was, it was a flying vehicle.

Everything was silent, the music was no longer playing, her car wasn't making a noise, we were going simultaneously with these lights, it was like a magnet with her car.

If we got out and threw a rock, we would have hit the object, that's how close it was.

We were both in like some sort of trance. I felt for my phone to take a picture, but just couldn't take my eyes off of it. After about 30 seconds of staring, I yelled out "what the heck is that", and it was gone.

I looked back and the 2 lights were way in the distance hovering around, jerking movements almost very far away. We both were freaking out confirming with each other, we had just seen and experienced the same thing.

As we turned on to Hamm Rd., the 2 lights were closer again and hovering over by the trees with it's lights shining on the trees.

I called the police when I got home and they said "you'd be surprised how many weird phone calls we get about that area". She seemed kind of weird about it, and said it could have been the government doing testing. Didn't  make sense to me.

The next day I felt really weird and so did my friend. Anyways I would love to hear back from you. I think about what happened this night every once in a while and felt like I had no one to talk to about it.

Orange Lights Seen In The Sky From Pipers Pub In Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Hi there, I did a random, un-hopeful Google search today, and came up to exactly the right page.

Last night, October 13th, 2012 we saw the same lights. We were at Pipers Pub in Nanaimo, total of 4 seen. Flew strange patterns, and lights went off at one point within an unclouded area.

I know its not much information, but if you find any more details on what they might have been, I'd appreciate some information. Cheers.

Flaming Round Objects Seen From North Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

We live in North Nanaimo and experienced the sightings reported on-line.

We saw two flaming round objects spaced what we would call evenly apart.

We face the north east and they were coming towards us and seemed to be coming down to the ocean, but suddenly veered off to the west climbing upward and continued to do so until we lost them in the atmosphere. 

We tracked them with our binoculars and wished we could have taken pictures. A third ball of fire/UFO followed after the first two had disappeared. We did not see a fourth as described in the previous article. 

It was a phenomenal sight and as seniors have never experienced anything like this before. Any explanations you can share would be appreciated.

Red/Orange Lights In The Sky Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia (Video And Pictures)

Full Description of Event/Sighting: My parents phoned to say there were some strange lights going across the sky.

At approximately 7:20 p.m. they saw two large red/orange lights moving close together.

The lights appeared in the south and moved toward the north. They eventually started heading west then suddenly disappeared.

We looked outside to see the third light following the exact same path. It looked red to the naked eye, but appeared orange in the photos we took.

After this third light disappeared like the first two, a fourth light appeared in the same starting position as the others.

It followed a similar path as the other three lights but it was moving markedly faster than the previous lights.

Once again, it turned to the west and just disappeared.

They were all completely silent and moved slowly across the sky. They were large enough that we expected to hear some sound emitting from them but nothing. The lights appeared to be flashing or glowing brighter then darker.

No others were sighted after the fourth light.

Multi Colored Object Shot Off White Ray Of Light Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

I just saw this tonight as well. I was told about by an employee who saw it last night along with 5 of his friends. They saw it and said the same about the lights and the ray of light, but they saw it move fast and not in a way a plane or helicopter would.

The colours I saw were red, green or blue and white. From time to time there would be a ray or shot of white. My son and his girlfriend have seen these odd things as well.

My son saw it over the ocean, the spotlight type thing, the colours and the odd fast movements. Then nothing. I am curious of what it could be.

Huge Circular UFO Top And Bottom Hidden In The Clouds And Tree Line Seen South Of Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Full Description of Event/Sighting: I have no blinds on the windows of my house and my bed is situated right next to the window on the second floor. If I wake up in the night, I'll often look outside as I roll over, and especially with a full moon, as I have a beautiful view.

That night/morning, I woke up, looked at the clock and rolled over, looking outside. I'd only been asleep for just over an hour. The moon was positively brilliant, and as I looked closer, I realized it looked very odd.

It looked huge, very close, and just above the tree-line. The bottom part wasn't visible behind the trees. The top part appeared to be hiding behind clouds, too, and it wasn't reflecting light, it looked like a huge spotlight, or maybe 2-3 lights in a horizontal row, but huge lights.

The light wasn't really shining across the small valley towards my house, though, it was shining further to the north.

Let me just say that it looked odd enough that I ran quietly downstairs, and out on the back deck, to look at it. quietly, because I had company. I have never done something like that before.

It was emitting light, it didn't appear to be reflecting light, like one would expect. there did seem to be a bit of cloud above it, and I somehow rationalized, after staring at it for a few minutes, that I was just tired and the clouds were making it look weird.

It wasn't until I got back to bed that I questioned it's position. I didn't think the moon should be that low at that time of night, so I did look out at it one more time.

The next morning, I asked my visitors where the moon would be positioned at that time of night, and explained what I had seen the night before. They had all kinds of explanations, and I ended up feeling ridiculous.

The night of September 27, 2012, I noted the position of the moon at about 9:00 p.m., as I could see it from my bathroom window. I got up at 5:00 a.m. the following morning to get ready for work and was stunned to see the moon in about the same position, vertically, that I had seen it 2 days before at 12:30 at night, except much higher in the sky.

There is just no way that the course of the moon is going to change like that. I have to say that the object I saw originally was not the moon.

I'm really regretting not taking a picture that night, or waking up the visitors, as that visual is absolutely haunting me. I have no idea what I saw. Whatever it was, it was very large, and very bright, and sat motionless for at least 10 minutes.

Now that I have discounted the moon as a possibility, I can say that I was close enough that I would have heard sound, and there was none. If it were at the tree-line, it would be about 300-400 yards away.

If I were to describe the shape, I would say a circle with both the top third and the bottom third removed, or the top was hidden in the clouds and the bottom behind the trees. The trees are at the top of a small ridge, 100' Douglas Firs, so it wasn't a vehicle.

The visible area of the object was filled entirely by the large spotlight (s).
I would even go so far as to say that the "spotlight", beam that I could see in it's entirety had a black spot in the middle.

I don't know how to explain that any more clearly, except possibly by comparing it to a hand-held water nozzle with water spraying from around the outside, but there's a little spot in the middle that is clear.

Given the distance, I would estimate that the diameter of the "light" on the object would have been about 30'-40'.

This has been bothering me enough for the past few days that I'm submitting this sighting in hopes that someone else might come forward to say they saw the same thing. I'd really like to know what I saw.

I have never seen anything "unidentifiable" before.

Two Unknown Bright Lights Seen From Pipers Lagoon Park In Nanaimo British Columbia

Date:  September 16, 2012
Time:  Evening.

Holy crap, I was at Pipers Lagoon park walking with my mother and her dog, and saw two very bright lights above what I presume is either the Mill, Gabriola Island, or Newcastle Island (I honestly don't know) but it was near the coastal edge of that landmass.

Anyway, there was one flying slightly above the other, glowing a bright light the same colour as a streetlamp, and it was faint at first.

The one on the top proceeded to glow extremely bright, vanished, and reappeared half-way across the Georgia Straight in little under a second of it disappearing. (I couldn't tell if it flew very fast or teleported there, it's a far-out assumption but even so).

The other slowly preceded to glow, as if it was flying our direction. It became very bright, almost difficult to look at, and then slowly faded away and vanished.

We were at first assuming they were helicopters, but that theory just didn't make any sense, and for search and rescue, I'm sure we would have seen boats going about as well. It was pretty strange!

Bright UFO Zig Zagging Across The Sky Over The South End Of Nanaimo British Columbia

Time:  9:45 p.m.

I live in the south end of Nanaimo, close to Haliburton. I got a call from my boyfriend at 9:45 a.m. to say he had just seen a UFO by Country Club. It was as bright as a streetlight.

So I went outside of my house and looked up and saw one light that was much farther away than what he saw zig zagging back and forth towards the ocean.

It faded and disappeared. A few seconds later I saw another light that looked exactly the same as the first zig zag towards Port Place Mall and disappeared.

White Light In The Sky Over Departure Bay Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

Time:  Around midnight

 

Yes I did see one very strange white light moving over Departure Bay at around midnight last night while I was having a cigarette. Once again the light was white and it moved much faster than an airplane would move and the light was constant, not flashing.

 

I watched it move for about 5 seconds and then it just kind of faded away and was gone. I kept looking up for a few minutes to see if it didn't just go through a cloud or something, but it never reappeared.

 

Last time I saw something like that was about a year ago, it was zooming by real fast the first time I saw it and thought it was a shooting star or something, but I am sure It was the same kind of light now.

 

Weird stuff going on up there for sure.

Unknown Light Flying Over Nanaimo Vancouver Island British Columbia

 

Date:  June 2012

Time:  Evening.

 

I saw something very similar to this. I can't be sure for the exact date, but it was about a month ago.

 

I was sitting down by the waterfront in Nanaimo, and my friend and I saw this object which looked as if it was hovering over top of the Mill (Harmac), we watched it for some time, and then it moved from the Mill across the waterfront, heading North in direction. (my friend tried to get a video of it, but it was night time, and you can barely see it.)

 

We decided that it was a helicopter, but there was no sound coming from the flying object. 

 

I decided to let it go, but I knew in the back of my mind that there was something strange about it.

 

Sorry it took me so long for my curiosity to peak on the subject, honestly I wasn't expecting anything to come up when I searched on Google.

 

I would like to know if anyone else has contacted you about the sighting in Nanaimo. Thanks.
