Hello Brian, I saw an "orange lantern" dip down 50 or so feet from me on a walk last night around 8:30 p.m. on September 27, 2012 in a development in Bordentown NJ. Just as you described on your site, the orange flame was in clear sight, then slowly it drifted from the east to the north, ascended up into the night sky and disappeared!
The orange flame I saw seemed like it was encased in a clear halo of a balloon. This is the best way for me to describe it to you. I have never seen anything like this before in my life, and I am not a kid. I am 49 years old and perfectly sober! etc.
I have been looking up anything that I can to explain what I was seeing, and am happy to know there are some others of you out there and especially here in New Jersey who experienced the same sighting.
