Hey Brian, a friend and myself saw what looked like a fire in the sky last night on August 20th, 2012 around 8:30 p.m. It was red burning way up in the upper atmosphere, in the southeastern sky.
We are here in Los Angeles and it seemed to be moving across the sky, lit up to a bright red-orange ball of fire over a period of 25-30 seconds, and then appeared to burn out to nothing.
I scoured the newspaper this morning expecting to see a report about a satellite burning up on re-entry or something, but could not find anything except your web posting.
I just wanted to share what we saw. Thanks.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.
