I think the date was 12/28/12 at about 5:00 p.m. The flash was brief and very bright.
It did not appear to be a meteor. It was a flash similar to a flash from an old camera, but seemed to cover a large area, probably 30 square miles.
Sightings were miles apart. The flash was bright and observers said they could see their shadow.
Also the flash light they were using, was masked by the flash. Keep in mind 5:00 p.m. in Alaska at this time of year is quite dark.
If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: sighting@telus.net with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.
Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.
