20 To 30 Orange Lights In The Sky Over West Boca Raton Florida

Date:  January 1, 2013
Time:  Approx: 12:15 a.m.
My husband and I were driving north in West Boca Raton, Florida around 12:15 a.m.

We both saw 20-30 orange orbs in a constellation like pattern (the only one we could recognize was something that looked like the big/little dipper).

They were about 1,500 feet in the air. At first, they were stationary, and then the pattern condensed or contracted. They moved relatively slowly, and eventually they began to disappear in a random order. A few remained when a large firework exploded in their general area, and they all disappeared at once.

I would have liked to explain them as being Chinese lanterns, as I have seen many people suggest on the internet, but they moved in a way that no wind could have moved them (i.e. condensing them in the exact pattern they were hovering in).

My husband and I have seen several similar reports of this in the area and are quite perplexed by the sighting.

Thank you for any information and for your blog that proved to us that we weren't the only ones seeing this phenomenon.

If you have seen anything like this in the same area please be kind enough to contact Brian Vike at: with the details of your sighting. All personal information is kept confidential.

Also, please feel free to send in your sightings that have happened years ago. So many of these older sightings are nothing short of amazing.
