Silent Orange Ball Of Light In The Sky Over Stony Brook Long Island New York
Date: January 1, 2013 Time: 12:40 a.m.
I saw the post about the orange balls in the Hudson Valley area. My son and I saw a large orange ball over Long Island, NY at about 12:40 a.m. this morning. We were driving down our street and when we first observed it, then it went behind some trees and houses.
We then drove to another location about 6 blocks away to get a better observation point with less trees, but by the time we got there it was gone. When we drove back to our street we saw it again.
This time we got out on foot and went down the street to another open area with less trees. As we arrived at the area with less trees it disappeared.
It was in a line going about 100 degrees west. That would have put it around the Stony Brook area or maybe further east if it was larger.
It was changing both altitude and intensity very rapidly, possibly indicating movement closer to and farther from the observers but the objects movements were very rapid.
There was no sound associated with this sighting. There was not a star in the sky as it was overcast.
